Social Media A Business – NOT a Party!

gary4Think about why you’re failing doing business on the Internet, in the Social Media Networks. If you’re posting and tweeting everyday and nothing is happening, you need to stop and ask the question, are you telling your story? It may be that your attitude towards what you’re doing is not right. This is business not a party! If you don’t believe in what you are doing then you need to find out what you do care about, FAST! Because your BRAND matters. I can’t share this any better than Gary Vaynerchuck, he is very passionate about telling your story, Tell your story, tell it everyday and you will have a business. Here is a clip that should help you get on track.

I find doing business on social media sites like facebook to be inappropriate. There are just too many social distractions. Facebook is for socializing not closing deals. It can be utilized as a marketing tool but again there are too many other things to do that take the viewer away from your marketing message. I think you will see new social business sites pop-up which will be more conducive to actually doing business.

Hi Ben, Thanks for your comments.

I agree, I think FaceBook does a poor job of telling the story and is more of a lounge than a business network. The need for new social business sites will increase because existing ones can’t support the sheer numbers and load. If Social networks are to be used for business they should only be used for direction to your Blog or site rather than solicitation.

      Thanks again, Owen
